Abioco Inc. was incorporated in the state of Utah, the United States of America, in 2006 by Benjamin S. Cheng. Prior to the creation of the company, Mr. Cheng had started Cheng Smith Inc in 1993 together with several other business professionals and scientists with experience in the chemical industry. The company’s first venture was to produce, in China, a key raw material used in the synthesis of one of the first AIDS anti-viral drugs to receive FDA approval. Cheng Smith’s success in China was largely due to Mr. Cheng’s ability to bring together human and financial resources from both the United States and China. In 2001, Cheng Smith expanded its business to the flavor and fragrances industry and began their specifying and sourcing of key flavor materials from China. To provide Abioco with greater operating breadth and better access to strategically significant resources, Abioco BioEnzyme Technology (Hefei) Co Ltd was established in China. It is jointly owned by Abioco, Inc., Hefei innovation SciTech Venture Capital Co Ltd., and Zhejiang Sunnyfarm Co Ltd.
